REGISTRATION & CONFERENCE
How will COVID-19 affect the conference?
At this stage, we are planning to hold the conference at COVID-19 Levels Green and Orange. Please read our full Terms and Conditions.
I wish to apply for a financial award. Should I go ahead and register for conference?
Yes. Awards are for travel and accommodation, not conference registration (more details).
Which rate should I select?
Select "NZALT/AFMLTA Member" if you have paid your 2022 membership fee, or intend to do so in the near future. Otherwise, select "Non-member".
How do I pay for conference dinner?
Conference Dinner is already included in the registration price. When you register you should see a check-box to confirm your attendance for dinner. You can also add an additional dinner guest. Send our Conference Organiser Ali Copeman an email if you get stuck or need to add a dinner partner after you have registered.
What if I didn't receive a confirmation email?
Either you made a typo in your email address, in which case you need to contact our Conference Organiser Ali Copeman, or you don't owe us any money because you entered a promo code and didn't generate an invoice. Just contact us if you want to check that you are registered.
How can I find out about being a sponsor or exhibitor?
Email our Conference Organiser Ali Copeman for a sponsorship prospectus or to have your questions answered.
Do I have to wear a name badge?
For security reasons, all delegates, speakers and visitors must wear their conference name badge at all times during the Conference. Access to the sessions, morning, afternoon teas and lunch and the social functions will not be permitted without a name badge.
Are there photocopying facilities at the conference venue?
We cannot provide photocopying facilities at the conference but there will be data projectors or Apple TVs in every room.
Will there be refreshments available at conference?
Lunch, morning and afternoon teas are included in your registration fee and will be served among the exhibition as per programme.
How will special dietary requirements be catered for?
Life threatening and medical conditions will be specially catered for. Life style choices will be catered for on the main catering tables.
When will the registration and information desk be open?

Sunday 10 July 7:30am - 5:00pm at John McGlashan College
Monday 11 July 8:30am - 4:00pm at John McGlashan College
Tuesday 12 July 8.30am - 2.00pm at John McGlashan College

When are the social functions?
Saturday 9 July: 6 - 7pm Welcome reception – Dunedin Public Art Gallery
Sunday 10 July: Language-specific dinners - various locations (tbc)
Monday 11 July: 6:30pm - 11:00pm Conference Dinner – Dunedin Town Hall
ACCOMMODATION
Do I book for accommodation through NZALT?
No. We have negotiated special conference rates with the John McGlashan College Boarding House (booking through the Conference Registration), two motels and one hotel (see Accommodation page), but it is up to you or your workplace to book directly with one of these (or elsewhere). However, in order to secure the special NZALT 2022 Conference rate, you MUST follow the instructions on the conference website.
What if I need to book a twin room, or extend the dates of my stay?
If your accommodation needs are in any way different to the standard deals offered, please phone the accommodation. Explain that you are booking for the NZALT Conference in July, but that you need a different type of room, or to stay before or after the conference period.
CONFERENCE VENUES
Will I be able to park at the main conference venue John McGlashan College?
Yes, parking is available free of charge.
Will I be able to park at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Yes, but you will need to pay $2-4 per hour before 6pm.
Will I be able to park at the Dunedin Town Hall?
There is parking available near the Town Hall and in walking distance, which is free after 6pm.
Is smoking/ vaping allowed at John McGlashan College?
Smoking kills. John McGlashan College is smoke free. Smoking is also not permitted on campus, please move well away from the school and the hostel should you need to smoke or vape. New Zealand has a smoke free law, which does not permit smoking in any public buildings.
GENERAL
What is the COVID 19 Hygiene and Health & Safety protocol?
All delegates are requested to maintain the highest levels of hygiene during the conference. The committee encourages you to sanitise, wash and dry your hands often, especially before the catering breaks. Masks are not required, however we strongly suggest having one with you just in case.
If at any time you feel unwell, please isolate yourself from others and inform the conference organisers immediately on 027 474 9887.
Can I store my coat and luggage?
Storage for coats and luggage is available. Please enquire at the registration desk.
Is there a dress code?
The dress code for all conference sessions and the social functions is - Smart Casual
MOBILE PHONES/LAPTOPS/SMART DEVICES
The organising committee respectfully requests that you turn your electronic device off (or turn them onto vibrate or silent) as a courtesy to the speakers and other delegates attending the sessions. If you forget to turn off your phone and it rings, please do not answer it in the session.
