NZALT 2020 Conference: Wellington, 3–5 JulyCELEBRATING EXCELLENCE IN LANGUAGE TEACHING AND LEARNING
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I register if I won't be paying myself?
Yes! Then simply forward your invoice to the relevant person .
I wish to apply for a financial award. Should I go ahead and register for conference?
No. You should apply and then wait to hear from us, as you will be given a promo code to enter if your application is successful. This code will allow you to register without having to pay anything. You will hear from us in time to take advantage of the Early Bird rate if your application is unsuccessful. (more details)
Which rate should I select if I wish to become a member of NZALT?
All three registration types will apply the correct calculation to your invoice.
How to I pay for conference dinner?
It is already included in the full registration price. When you choose your rate (member, non-member, or student) you should see one or two check-boxes underneath giving you the option of adding your dinner to the discounted rate, and also an additional dinner guest. If you don't see these options, you may need to clear your browser's cache or go into guest/incognito mode. Send us an email if you get stuck or need to add dinner after you have registered.
What if I didn't receive a confirmation email?
Either you made a typo in your email address, in which case you need to contact us at email@example.com, or you don't owe us any money because you entered a promo code and didn't generate an invoice.
Do I book for accommodation through NZALT?
No. We have negotiated special conference rates with three hotels (see Accommodation page), but it is up to you or your work-place to book directly with one of these hotels (or elsewhere). However, in order to secure the special NZALT 2020 Conference rate, you MUST follow the instructions on the conference website.
What if I need to book a twin room, or to extend the dates of my stay?
If your accommodation needs are in any way different to the standard deals offered at Thorndon Hotel or Rydges Wellington, phone the hotel yourself. Explain that you are booking for the NZALT Conference in July, but that you need a different type of room, or to stay before or after the conference weekend. The hotels have assured us that they will do their best to meet your needs.
Why have you changed the timing of the NZALT Conference?
In part, in relation to feedback from delegates at previous conferences, who have mentioned that the former timing ate into their family holiday time. In part, also, in order to allow university staff to attend our conference. The university term starts on Monday, 6 July, and so the new timing allows our tertiary colleagues to join us over the preceding weekend.
Will I be able to park at Te Papa?
Yes, but you will need to pay as normal.
Will I be able to park at Queen Margaret College?
Yes, parking is available free of charge.
Will I be able to park at Rydges Wellington?
There is limited valet parking ($20). The Stout Street Car Park is nearby ($8) and on-street parking is free during the conference dinner.
How can I find out about being a sponsor or exhibitor?
Email firstname.lastname@example.org for a sponsorship prospectus or to have your questions answered.
